Metagen Therapeutics is a startup established to bring leading research from Juntendo University, Keio University, and the Institute of Science Tokyo into practical real-world implementation. Guided by its purpose of "Living up to the hopes of patients through microbiome science," the company is advancing both a medical service business and a drug discovery business centered on its proprietary “Intestinal Microbiome Bank” platform for Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT). In its medical service business, Metagen Therapeutics has completed a specified clinical trial under Advanced Medical Care B for an antibiotic-combined FMT therapy in patients with ulcerative colitis. The company is also conducting additional clinical studies in indications such as gastrointestinal cancers and Parkinson’s disease. In its drug discovery business, Metagen Therapeutics is developing an oral FMT-based therapeutic for ulcerative colitis and plans to initiate a Phase 1/2 clinical trial in 2026. Global Brain has decided to invest in Metagen Therapeutics, highly recognizing its business and exceptional management team with the ability to realize the business.
