Global Brain has invested in ElevationSpace Inc. (ElevationSpace), a developer of space environment utilization and space transportation infrastructure using atmospheric re-entry and recovery technology, through its TAKANAWA GATEWAY Global Co-Benefits Fund L.P. (TAKANAWA Fund). As global interest in the space transportation and low-Earth orbit service markets continues to grow, there is an urgent need to establish infrastructure for continuous and high-frequency space utilization. At the same time, current opportunities for returning materials from space to Earth remain limited to only a few times per year, posing significant constraints on the industrialization of space utilization for applications such as drug discovery and advanced materials. ElevationSpace is addressing this challenge by developing ELS-R, an unmanned small satellite-based space environment utilization and return platform, and ELS-RS, a high-frequency cargo recovery capsule for space stations—drawing on atmospheric re-entry and recovery technology developed in collaboration with Tohoku University and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)—to build the infrastructure for the post-ISS era, while accelerating global partnerships. Global Brain has decided to invest in ElevationSpace, recognizing its proprietary re-entry technology developed in Japan, its steady development progress, and the management team's track record in building partnerships both domestically and internationally. Through this investment, Global Brain will actively support ElevationSpace in realizing its vision of "Building an in-orbit transportation network to connect cargo, crew, and all orbital operations."
