Global Brain has invested in DoctorMate Inc., which provides online consultation service with doctor or nurse for nursing facilities for the elderly, as a lead investor
Global Brain has invested in DoctorMate Inc. (DoctorMate), which provides online consultation service with doctor or nurse for nursing facilities for the elderly, through its Norinchukin Innovation Fund L.P. (NCIF) as a lead investor.
While Japan is experiencing the rapid super-ageing of its society, the shortage of personnel in the elderly nursing care progresses, which leads to the problem of the on-site excessive work burden getting more serious. Since last year, COVID-19 has brought the even greater workload to the personnel at the facilities. At the same time, COVID-19 has built the great momentum of digital transformation (DX) at the site of nursing care facilities for the elderly.
In this context, DoctorMate provides 24H access to medical service dedicated to nursing care facility staff, which combines online consultation with a doctor and night-time on-call service by a nurse. This service contributes a lot to solving the issue of workload expansion of such nursing care facilities. In addition to the DX of the industry through the online consultation service, DoctorMate has started, in May this year, to establish a new medical-nursing system in collaboration with a regional core hospital and a local government. Furthermore, in July, it has launched a 24h online remote-support to several nursing care facilities where medical service is restricted due to the cases of COVID-19, in collaboration with Ibaraki Prefecture. This is also the first case ever in Japan as a collaboration between a startup and a regional government to ease the COVID-19 impact in nursing care facilities.
To further promote such efforts on DX, DoctorMate is going to enforce its product development capabilities within the company, through the fundraising this time.
Global Brain has decided to invest in DoctorMate, thinking highly of its high aspiration to solve medical issue at nursing care facilities, deep knowledge of CEO, Mr. Aoyagi as a doctor as well as the innovative service and efforts of the company. Global Brain will leverage proactively its resources to support DoctorMate to promote DX in the industry and, as a result, to contribute to the society where both the elderly and the younger generation can feel secure.
