Global Brain has invested in Basetwo Artificial Intelligence Inc. (Basetwo), a developer of digital twin AI tools for pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing plants, through its Shimadzu Future Innovation Fund L.P. (Shimadzu FIF).

Basetwo is a startup focused on improving manufacturing productivity using physics-informed AI models that combine mathematical modeling and machine learning. Traditional production management systems face challenges in addressing productivity declines and unexpected downtimes resulting from plant complexity and aging facilities. The pharmaceutical and chemical industries in particular require new production management methods to enhance quality and efficiency. As a result, there is growing attention on process informatics technologies that enable real-time data analysis, optimization of manufacturing conditions, and anomaly prediction.

Basetwo offers its process informatics technology as a SaaS platform, leveraging physics-informed AI capable of providing causal explanations to help manufacturers build digital twins of their processes and improve productivity. The platform features no-code design capabilities and an AI copilot, making it user-friendly for plant designers and engineers and facilitating easy implementation in the field.
