Global Brain has invested as the lead investor in AirMembrane Corporation (AirMembrane), a startup that develops mass production technology for high-quality single-layer graphene, through Shinhan-GB FutureFlow Fund L.P. (SHGB) that is jointly managed with Shinhan Venture Investment Co., Ltd. (Shinhan Venture Investment). AirMembrane was founded in 2017 based on the graphene research results from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Japan. Graphene is a monolayer carbon allotrope with carbon atoms arranged in a planar pattern and is expected to be applied to next-generation devices due to its excellent electrical conductivity and responsiveness. However, the use of high-quality single-layer graphene as an industrial material has not yet advanced due to the difficulty of its manufacturing. AirMembrane has taken on this challenge and is now developing the mass production technology that dramatically improves quality and production efficiency in graphene production. Its single-layer graphene can be transferred to a wide range of substrate materials, which other companies have not achieved, and it is expected to be applied in the fields of advanced technology such as transparent electrode films and ultra-sensitive sensors. With the funds raised in this round, AirMembrane plans to improve its mass production technology and hire personnel to expand its business. Global Brain has decided to invest in AirMembrane, highly recognizing its management team's long-standing persistence in the mass production of graphene and the potential of its graphene products as electronic materials. Through this investment, Global Brain will actively support AirMembrane in many areas together with Shinhan Venture Investment to contribute to the further growth of AirMembrane's business.
