Global Brain has invested in A-wave, Inc., (A-wave), a DeepTech startup developing a home monitoring system for heart failure patients, through its Shimadzu Future Innovation Fund L.P. (Shimadzu FIF). The number of chronic heart failure patients in Japan is increasing alongside the country’s aging population, creating a societal challenge widely referred to as the "heart failure pandemic." Chronic heart failure is characterized by progressive deterioration through repeated hospitalization and discharge. Therefore, early detection of warning signs is critical to preventing readmissions. Established in May 2023 as a spin-off from the University of Osaka, A-wave is developing a digital platform to tackle the challenges faced by heart failure patients. Through the deployment of its medical devices, A-wave aims to contribute both to improving the Quality of Life of heart failure patients and reducing their overall medical costs. Global Brain has decided to invest in A-wave, highly recognizing its innovative approach in the field of heart failure and the strong capabilities of its experienced management team. Through this investment, Global Brain will support the business growth of A-wave in collaboration with Shimadzu Corporation as the startup strives to address the challenges of heart failure.
