(Shinhan Venture Investment). 12 Pharmacy operates veterinary compounding pharmacies that fulfill prescriptions outsourced by animal hospitals. In Japan’s veterinary healthcare sector, unlike in human healthcare, a formal separation between prescribing and compounding has not been established, and medication compounding is typically performed in-house at animal hospitals. This structure has led to challenges such as increased operational burdens on clinical staff and longer waiting times for pets and their owners. In recent years, amid demographic shifts including an aging population, declining birthrate, and the rise of single-person households, pets have increasingly been regarded as family members. As a result, demand for high-quality veterinary care has continued to grow. By enabling the outsourcing of compounding operations, 12 Pharmacy’s model simultaneously improves the efficiency of veterinary clinic workflows and enhances the quality of medical services, while also reducing waiting times for pets and their owners.
