Global Brain Partners with Sony Financial Ventures on Its First Venture Capital Fund

Global Brain Corporation (“Global Brain”) and Sony Financial Ventures Inc. have partnered to launch “SFV・GB L.P.” (“Fund”), Sony Financial Group’s first-ever Venture Capital (VC) fund. The fund will launch with JPY 5 Billion of committed capital.

The Fund will make strategic investments into promising Fintech startups across the world which have the potential of collaborating with business units of Sony Financial Group and also startups which can potentially lead to new business development in Sony Financial Group.

The Fund will serve as a speedy investment platform that leverages Sony Financial Group’s wide range of expertise in the fields of financial services such as insurance and banking, and Global Brain’s strong expertise in startup investment. The Fund not only aims to contribute to Sony Financial Group’s existing businesses and new business creation initiatives but also aims to generate financial returns from its investments.

As the General Partner of the Fund, Global Brain aims to find promising startups and conduct due diligence and investment decisions. Furthermore, GB will provide portfolio startups with hands-on support to co-create successful businesses and companies.
