Global Brain has invested in trifa Inc. (trifa), an eSIM^*1 operator for international travelers, through its GB-IX Growth Fund Investment Limited Partnership (GB-IX) and ANA Future Frontier Fund L.P. (ANA Future Frontier Fund) as the lead investor.
^*1 eSIM is an industry-standard digital SIM that allows users to activate a cellular plan from their carriers without having to use a physical SIM.

The company’s service called “trifa” allows users to purchase eSIMs for 200 countries with a single app and connect to the Internet overseas. There is no need to rent a mobile Wi-Fi device at the airport or purchase and set up a local SIM card as in the past. ”trifa” is more convenient than mobile Wi-Fi devices, etc. and boasts the highest number of downloads^*2 as a Japanese player. The market is also expected to grow, driven by the spread of eSIM-compatible smartphones.

With the funds raised, trifa aims to expand the number of users and client companies for its “trifa Business,” a service for business users, by strengthening its internal structure through recruitment and implementing further marketing measures. In addition, trifa plans to engage in eSIM sales to inbound customers, a market that is expanding.

Global Brain has decided to invest in trifa because of its excellent management team, its track record as the top player in Japan in terms of the number of downloads, and expectations for future growth. Through this investment, Global Brain will collaborate with ANA Holdings Inc. to provide multifaceted management support to contribute to the further expansion of trifa’s business.
