Global Brain has invested in Sakana AI K.K. (Sakana AI), a company that develops generative-AI foundation models with architectures inspired by the laws of nature, through its KDDI Open Innovation Fund III (KOIF III). Sakana AI was established by Llion Jones, one of the authors of the paper "Attention Is All You Need" that sparked the current innovation in generative AI and David Ha, a researcher on “World models.” Leveraging their natural language processing technology and AI architecture design capabilities, Sakana AI aims to solve the issue of rising computational complexity in largescale generative-AI foundation models. It will develop AI models that have advanced adaptive capabilities by linking multiple small AI models and making them work together efficiently without depending on huge computational resources. Collaborating with KDDI, Sakana AI will promote R&D of the AI models by utilizing KDDI’s data sets and other assets. Global Brain has decided to invest in Sakana AI because we highly appreciate their unique vision and technological capabilities. Through this investment, Global Brain will work with KDDI on comprehensive management support for further growth of Sakana AI.
