Global Brain has invested in Kyoto Fusioneering Ltd. (Kyoto Fusioneering), a Japanese nuclear fusion startup providing clean energy solutions to achieve carbon neutrality, through its JGC MIRAI Innovation Fund L.P. (JGC MIRAI Innovation Fund).
Kyoto Fusioneering was established in 2019 based on the technologies developed at Kyoto University, aiming to realize commercialization of fusion. Since nuclear fusion does not emit greenhouse gases in the power generation process, this technology is receiving attention as the ultimate clean energy that can fundamentally solve energy and environmental problems. Large-scale R&D efforts for commercial fusion are rapidly progressing around the world following the trend of decarbonization.
Kyoto Fusioneering is pursuing R&D of advanced fusion technologies and has high technological capabilities especially in plant engineering of heat utilization systems in fusion reactors. By providing innovative engineering solutions, the company aims to accelerate commercialization of nuclear fusion by global research institutes and fusion startups to achieve carbon neutrality.
Global Brain decided to invest in Kyoto Fusioneering because of its high expertise and technological capabilities in nuclear fusion, excellent management team, and market potential/impact of clean energy. Global Brain will contribute to the business growth of Kyoto Fusioneering in collaboration with JGC group.
