Instalimb is a startup that leverages 3D printing and AI technology to develop a 3D printed prosthetic and orthotics manufacturing solution business in Japan, India, and the Philippines. Generally, prosthetic and orthotics need to be handcrafted in medically optimal shapes to suit each individual’s body, which requires medical knowledge and technical skills of prosthetists and orthotists. However, developing and newly industrializing countries that lack public welfare budgets for training prosthetists and orthotists are facing a shortage of such professionals, being unable to provide enough supply of prosthetic and orthotics such as prosthetic legs. Instalimb aims to achieve its vision to “Create a world where everyone in need can access high-quality prosthetics & orthotic devices.” by achieving digital transformation of prosthetic leg manufacturing from scratch and increasing the number of prosthetic legs manufactured per prosthetist and orthotist by more than 10 times.
