Global Brain has invested in Engate, Inc. (Engate), which provides a gifting service platform specialized in sports industry, through its Norinchukin Innovation Fund L.P. (NCIF).
While a large number of sports teams exist in various regions of Japan supported by a legion of fans, there have been seriously less physical interactions between fans and athletes because of COVID-19, resulting in the huge loss of revenue opportunity for sports teams. To respond to this issue, Engate operates a sports gifting service platform, which provides sports teams with the opportunity to strengthen engagement of fans in the team and to explore a new monetization channel. Furthermore, it continues to establish new business models based on the sports gifting , such as revitalization of local economy through collaboration with typical local industry in the region of sports teams.
Global brain has decided to invest in Engate, thinking highly of its unique business model and strong aspiration of CEO, Mr. Kido, in sports gifting service. Global brain will leverage proactively its resources to support Engate, to realize unique digital transformation of Japanese sports industry and deepening collaboration with JA group which sponsors a lot of sports teams.
