Global Brain has invested in Biome Inc. (Biome), a provider of biodiversity monitoring services, through its JGC MIRAI Innovation Fund L.P. (JGC MIRAI Innovation Fund).

Biome, a biodiversity startup from Kyoto University, aims to build a platform for environmental conservation business through big data on the distribution of organisms around the world, with the vision of "building a society that benefits from saving biodiversity." Biome has developed AI that identifies the names of plants/animals from their images and is operating the “Biome” biological collection app as a mechanism for both biodiversity monitoring and ecosystem conservation education, which has achieved a cumulative total of 200 million PVs and 700,000 application downloads as of February 2023. In addition, the company has developed the “TNFD Compliance Support Package” that helps businesses formulate strategies to comply with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD), utilizing one of the largest biological information databases in Japan (100,000 species) and the collection, analysis and visualization of biodiversity information.

Global Brain has decided to invest in Biome based on the company's accumulated data and know-how in the field of biodiversity and the potential of the TNFD-related market. Global Brain will contribute to the business growth of Biome in cooperation with the JGC Group.
