Global Brain has invested in Archeda, Inc. (Archeda), a provider of satellite data- and AI-based dMRV solutions for nature-based carbon credits, through its ME Innovation Fund L.P. (ME Innovation Fund). In recent years, carbon offset initiatives have gained traction globally as an effective measure toward achieving carbon neutrality, with nature-based carbon credits becoming increasingly mainstream. In Japan, introduction of an emissions trading scheme^\*1 is scheduled for the fiscal year 2026, which is expected to drive further demand for carbon offset solutions and nature-based credits. However, issuance of credits lacking transparent monitoring methodologies has emerged as a challenge, underscoring the urgent need for more reliable and standardized verification mechanisms. With a mission to “Unlock the Hidden Value of the Earth,” Archeda is striving to accelerate the digitalization of the natural environment through satellite data and AI-based technologies, aiming to enhance the efficiency of nature management for corporations and local governments and improve the reliability and efficiency of nature-based solution monitoring. Archeda currently utilizes satellite data—such as those captured by the Daichi-2 radar satellite developed by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation—and applies proprietary AI analysis to monitor environmental changes and carbon sequestration. The integrated technology also enables precise and efficient baseline^\*2 assessments. Several pilot projects are underway across the Asia region to validate the system. Beyond carbon projects, Archeda is extending its technology to support forest resource assessments and logging/reforestation monitoring for municipalities and is contributing to the development of nationwide biomass maps in Japan to help modernize forest resource management. Global Brain has decided to invest in Archeda based on its strong technological capabilities, leadership of its executive team, and significant growth potential of the nature-based carbon credit market.
