Global Brain has invested in AmicaTerra Co., Ltd. (AmicaTerra), a manufacturer of a plant-derived plastic substitute material, through its JGC MIRAI Innovation Fund L.P. (JGC MIRAI Innovation Fund). AmicaTerra produces “modo-cell®,” a plastic substitute made mainly from plant fiber (cellulose). “modo-cell®” is a material made by drying and powdering cellulose-containing plants and mixing them with starch. It is characterized by its ability to biodegrade in nature and to utilize resources that have not been used in the past, such as bamboos from abandoned bamboo groves and plant residues from food and beverage factories. AmicaTerra aims to contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral and recycling-oriented society by establishing a “modo-cell®” mass production system in the future. Global Brain has decided to invest in AmicaTerra based on the company's advanced technological capabilities. We will contribute to the business growth of AmicaTerra in cooperation with the JGC Group.
