Global Brain has made an additional investment in DoctorMate Inc. (DoctorMate), which provides online consultation service with doctor or nurse for nursing facilities for the elderly, through its GB-VIII Growth Fund Investment Limited Partnership (GB-VIII) and Norinchukin Innovation Fund L.P. (NCIF) as the lead investor. While Japan is experiencing the rapid super-ageing of its society, the shortage of personnel in the elderly nursing care progresses, which makes more serious the problem of the on-site excessive work burden. Furthermore, COVID-19 has brought the even greater workload to the personnel at these facilities. At the same time, COVID-19 has generated a great momentum of digital transformation (DX) in the nursing care industry as well. In this context, DoctorMate provides 24H access to medical service dedicated to nursing care facility staff, which combines online consultation with doctors and night-time on-call service by nurses. This service contributes a lot to solving the issue of workload expansion of such nursing care facilities. To further promote such efforts on DX, DoctorMate is going to sophisticate its product and enhance capabilities within the company to develop new business through the fundraising this time. Global brain has decided to additionally invest in DoctorMate, thinking highly of its high aspiration to solve medical issues at nursing care facilities, deep knowledge of CEO, Mr. Aoyagi as a doctor as well as the rapid growth since the last financing round which Global Brain has joined as the lead investor.
