Global Brain and KDDI jointly establishes “KDDI Open Innovation Fund II”
Global Brain Corporation and KDDI Corporation have jointly established “KDDI Open Innovation Fund II” (“KOIF II”). This is the second Corporate Venture Capital Fund for KDDI subsequent to “KDDI Open Innovation Fund” (“KOIF I”) established in February 2012.
KOIF I has invested in 24 startups, 15 domestic and 9 overseas, covering Internet services such as ecommerce, media, O2O and game. As adoption of smartphones expands, more and more Internet services are being applied to day to day physical life scenes. Under this circumstance, KOIF II aims to invest in advanced services and technologies that can lead innovations in the integration of the Internet with our personal and commercial physical lives.
Global Brain, as a general partner of KOIF II, will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating and screening prospective startup companies. Global Brain will also provide multiple extensive assistances for the investee companies to enable their rapid growth.
The investee companies will be able to leverage various assets of KDDI, such as KDDI’s broad customer base, business practices and reliable communication platform, together with Global Brain’s acceleration programs, to execute effective growth strategies.
