Global Brain has invested in Telexistence, a Japan based startup providing robotics and cloud data services using telexistence technology, as the lead investor

Global Brain has invested in Telexistence Inc. (hereinafter TX Inc.), a Japan based startup providing robotics and cloud data services using telexistence technology through its KDDI Open Innovation Fund(hereinafter “KOIF”) and GB-VI Growth Fund Investment Limited Partnership (hereinafter “GB-VI”).
“Telexistence” is a concept that was first proposed by Dr. Susumu Tachi, Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo and the chairman of TX Inc., which refers to the notion of human beings in effect being in a place other than where he or she actually exists and being able to act freely in that remote environment – essentially expanding the presence of human beings – as well as the technological systems that make this possible.
Based on Dr. Tachi’s theoretical and experimental studies over the years, TX Inc. aims to develop telexistence robots, online remote control robotics technologies, and a communication module cloud system that transmits, accumulates and analyzes everything from visual and auditory to tactile information.
Global Brain will support TX Inc.'s mission of improving society's productivity through practical application of telexistence technology with investors of KOIF and GB-VI. In particular, hosting the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020 will be a great opportunity to appeal Japanese technology both inside and outside, so we will support the adoption of their technology in various scenes including tourism and inbound areas.
