Global Brain leads Series A round for Superflex, developing the new category of Powered Clothing

Global Brain has invested in Superflex (CEO Rich Mahoney), a Menlo Park-based powered clothing company spun out of SRI International, through its GB-V Growth Fund Investment Limited Partnership.

Superflex technology was developed at SRI for a DARPA-funded program to reduce injury risk and enhance soldier endurance while carrying heavy loads. Recognizing its profound application beyond the military, Superflex spun out of SRI to explore the technology for a wide range of consumer applications, starting with the aging market because of the size of the opportunity and the need this population faces.

Rich Mahoney, the CEO of Superflex, was the Director of one of the best robotics programs in the world at SRI International for more than seven years. Rich has more than 25 years of experience in research, development, and commercialization of robotics technology, with an emphasis on healthcare solutions for assistive devices and rehabilitation.

By leading the $9.6M Series A round of financing participated by other leading international investors, Global Brain will leverage its resources to help Superflex establishing a presence in the Japanese market as well as other Asian market.
