Global Brain has invested in CleanFiber Inc., a company that produces novel building insulation made out of recycled cardboard

Global Brain has invested in CleanFiber Inc. (CleanFiber), a company that produces novel building insulation made out of recycled cardboard, through its TOKYU-CNST GB Innovation Fund L.P. (TCIF).

CleanFiber is a rapidly growing firm that manufactures cellulose-based building insulation using recycled cardboard as raw material. The cellulose insulation market is expected to show a huge growth in the future because of its insulation efficiency and ability to fix carbon in the structure. However, existing cellulose insulation had concerns about the shrinking supply and surging price of newspaper, which was the primary raw material. CleanFiber uses a proprietary technology to provide fire retardancy of cellulose materials, and it has succeeded in developing cellulose insulation that is easy to handle, using low-cost recycle cardboard as raw material. Commercial production has already begun at CleanFiber’s plant in New York, and CleanFiber’s products have been able to increase the market share in the US thanks to their competitive price and high quality.

Global Brain has decided to invest in CleanFiber, highly recognizing its talented team, unique technology to achieve low-cost and easy-handling cellulose insulation, and the high potential of the cellulose insulation market. Global Brain will contribute to the growth of CleanFiber in cooperation with TOKYU CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD.
